I'm writing this having just finished some online compliance checks (references, history background stuff).
My previous role came to an end 6 months ago, after 19 years on and off. So I had been looking for new job since then. Employment experience wasn't an issue, but confidence and interview technique was an area I lacked.
In my conversations in person and by phone with the Jobcentre while claiming JSA, I was encouraged to pay Careers Wales in Blackwood a visit (the Jobcentre is also in Blackwood and I'd be passing the place on the way home) for any additional support I may need.
When I applied for a role I felt I could be a good fit for, the next day I was conatcted and asked if I would attend an interview. Naturally I said yes, was told a date and time.
Again, I lack interview experience, and confidence in these situations, and asked Careers Wales for some help and booked an appointment. After explaining my situation, what I was applying for and what I was looking for, they supplied me with links to some resources, including the "CareerVidz" channel on YouTube.
In preparing for the interview, I was realising I could talk about my prior work experience quite well, but starting and finishing the interview would be where I needed improvment. Richard's videos on how to answer "Tell Me About Yourself" were very useful in learning how to structure an answer that was relevant and what potential employers want to hear, and also the importance of asking questions at the end. Also found plenty of help in that area.
So this past Thursday I had the interview, and the following afternoon, i.e. yesterday, I was told they were impressed by my interview and I will be starting on November 10th, as an "Examination Support Officer"
So with that, thank you so much Richard, your content proved to be a huge help to me!
