I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but here goes. My LinkedIn premium free trial just expired and it's been very helpful. But, being out of Work, the extra cost for a monthly subscription isn't something I can feel good about right now. I read there are people on LinkedIn who have the ability to give away free subscriptions, even if it's for a few months. If anyone on here knows about this and could share advice, I'd be very grateful.

Thank you

W

Hi, Thanks for posting this — it’s a great question and I know how valuable LinkedIn Premium can be when you’re job hunting. Unfortunately, LinkedIn doesn’t allow individuals to give away Premium subscriptions. Any offers you see claiming to do so are usually not legitimate and could put your account at risk.

However, there are a few safe and free alternatives you can use right now:

  • LinkedIn Premium free trials: Occasionally, LinkedIn re-offers free trials if you haven’t had one in a while. It’s worth checking your account or searching your email for “LinkedIn Premium offer.”

  • LinkedIn Job Alerts & Advanced Filters: Even without Premium, you can still set up highly targeted job alerts and filter by experience level, location, and industry — very effective for job searching.

  • Free learning resources: LinkedIn Learning often provides free courses for a month or during promotional periods. You can also find top-notch interview training and CV tips on PassMyInterview and my YouTube channel CareerVidz. https://www.youtube.com/ @CareerVidz

  • Networking directly: A big part of Premium is InMail, but you can still connect with recruiters and hiring managers for free by sending a personalized connection request (mention something specific and professional — e.g., shared interests or the job you’re applying for).

If you want to upgrade in the future but save money, watch for LinkedIn discounts — they sometimes send 50% off offers after a cancelled subscription.

In the meantime, you might find this free resource helpful:

Stay focused — you can definitely job hunt effectively without Premium. If you need any firther help, please ask.

Best,
Richard
