Hello @sumitdas99,

Thank you for sharing your situation. Please do not worry, many people experience career gaps, and the key is in how you frame it positively. Employers are not just looking at your past, they want to see confidence, honesty, and readiness to contribute right now.

Here’s my advice:

  • If asked why you left your last role, keep it short and professional. For example: “My last role came to a natural end, and since then I have been focusing on developing my skills and looking for the right opportunity where I can add value long term.”

  • Do not go into unnecessary detail about being asked to resign. Focus instead on what you learned and how you are now better prepared.

  • Emphasise your motivation to re-enter work, your skills, and what you can bring to the role you are applying for.

  • Practise saying your answer with confidence so it comes across naturally and without hesitation.

I recommend watching my video that covers how to explain career gaps and job changes at interview: How to Explain Gaps in Employment

What type of role are you now targeting so we can shape your answer specifically for that job?

Richard
