Hi,

I had an informal interview on 23 Dec, and hopefully, they will invite me for a formal interview in the first ten days of Jan 2026. I need advice for my formal interview, and this position is in a civil and construction company. My qualification is a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and a Master of Engineering Management.

Hi @ihsanarif12,

That’s positive news, well done. An informal interview followed by a formal one usually means they are interested.

For the formal interview in a civil and construction company, focus on three things:

your technical knowledge, your project or site experience, and how you communicate with stakeholders.

Be ready to explain:

  • How you apply your civil engineering knowledge in real projects

  • How you manage time, cost, quality, and safety

  • How your Engineering Management degree helps you lead, plan, and make decisions

Use clear STAR examples and keep your answers practical and commercial.

Once you have the formal interview date or job description, feel free to share it and I can give you more targeted advice.

Richard
